A new take on our original chili miso condiment, with more kick. Fantastic on rice, pasta, and potatoes. Try it as a marinade or instead of ketchup on eggs or burgers.

Abokichi started out as an onigiri (Japanese rice ball) company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In Japan, onigiri are eaten with the same frequency of sandwiches and bagels in the west, and the variety of both artisanal and commercially-made onigiri filling and seasoning options there is vast.

With few onigiri filling options available in this part of the world, the next logical step was to start making our own. In creating "rice condiments" for a western market, influences have come both from traditional Japanese flavours, as well as finding inspiration in the cuisine of other cultures and local ingredients. By starting this venture in such a multicultural city, the crossover discovery was made that these savoury condiments make outstanding additions to a variety of dishes including pasta, stir-frys, potatoes, sandwiches, salads, meat, fish, eggs, and more.

Our products are made by hand in small batches using high quality ingredients that are sourced locally whenever possible. Okazu, our first hit, is a miso paste, sesame oil and spice based sauce, that we are following up with a collection of dry seasoning blends, prepared sea vegetable preserves, and other onigiri paraphernalia.

INGREDIENTS: SUNFLOWER OIL, SESAME OIL, FRIED GARLIC (GARLIC, CANOLA OIL), MISO PASTE (NON-GMO SOYBEANS, RICE, SALT), SOY SAUCE (WATER, NON-GMO SOYBEANS, WHEAT, SALT), SPICES, FRIED ONION (ONION, CANOLA OIL), WHITE SESAME SEEDS. PRODUCT SEPARATION IS NORMAL. REFRIGERATE AFTER OPENING. PROCESSED IN A FACILITY THAT ALSO PROCESSES EGGS, FISH, WHEAT, AND MUSTARD.
