These ice cream scoops features stainless steel hardware and an arbutus wood handle. The handles were hand-turned on a lathe and finished with wipe-on-poly to give them a beautiful and durable finish. While not dishwasher safe these are sturdy scoops that will not bend or break while scooping ice cream and should last for many years of use. The is handles are about 6 3/4 inches long and the overall length is about 8 1/2 inches. The wood for the handles came from either West Vancouver or Bowen Island.

I have enjoyed woodworking from a young age, receiving my first functional tools at the age of six, and my interests and inspirations have changed and evolved over the years. Around 2008 my interests led me woodturning and I bought my first lathe. I was soon sucked into the vortex of turning wood and all the possibilities that it brought. With my previous experience in woodworking it did not take long to start producing items that had friends and family pestering me to start selling them. While reluctant at first I have slowly given in and now find myself joining up with Foodie pages to offer my work to a wider audience.

I now source most of my wood locally from urban trees that have been cut down for various reasons. This provides a use for wood that would otherwise go to waste as well as allowing me to find pieces with unusual character that would never be available commercially. For some of my smaller pieces though I still give in to the lure of exotic woods and the beauty that they have to offer.
