Our sauces are hand made and slow cooked in small batches in Toronto from fresh, all natural ingredients. Just heat and serve. Leftover sauce? After opening the jar, refrigerate any unused sauce for up to 10 days, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Refrigerate after opening. Sugo Sauce Serving Idea: Cook 1 lb. (500g) Spaghetti or other pasta according to the package instructions; drain well. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat; heat all the pasta sauce, stirring occasionally. In a large bowl, toss about half of the sauce with cooked pasta. Divide the pasta among individual bowls and top each serving with more sauce and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Serves 6 to 8.

Louise Prete was my grandmother and inspiration for Louise Prete Fine Foods. She was born in Italy on April 15, 1910 and came to Canada as young girl with her brothers and sisters.

Louise grew up in a large Italian family with a strong love of food. She married my grandfather at a young age - they ran a small hotel and my grandmother took care of the hotel's kitchen and dining room. As a kid growing up my family would often spend summer holidays with my grandparents at the Normandie hotel. The kitchen was the hub of all activity and where we spent most of our time, watching my grandmother prepare and cook her mouthwatering Italian specialties was a thrill. Homemade pasta made that day, rolled out and cut into strands that seemed to go on forever. There was always a tomato sauce that simmered for hours filling the kitchen with delightful aromas.

Our rich and hearty Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce is made using my Nonna's recipe. Fresh, home made and simply delicious.
