Stasis began when owner Julian Katz took the leap from cooking in some of Toronto’s best kitchens, to taking his passion for food in another direction - starting Stasis Preserves in 2010.
Focusing exclusively on local produce and working with small local farmers, the jam, pickle, and chutney line launched at Brickworks Farmer’s market, and quickly after the St. Lawrence & Trinity Bellwoods Farmer’s markets. Eventually refining the main Stasis Preserves line to a few sweet and a few savoury spreads and a a fiery hot sauce, but still doing small batches of other preserves throughout the growing season.
In December 2011, Julian and his partner Emily opened Stasis Local Foods, now called Stasis Deli & Pantry. Located at 476 Roncesvalles Ave it is open 7 days a week and is locally focused serving lots of delicious foods from sandwiches, to cheese, to ready-made meals and much more!
