Chef’s Box Challenge: Apple Recipe Round-up

Every month partners with a top Canadian chef to highlight local food and inspire Canadians to get back into the kitchen.  Our November CHEF’S BOX curator, Brian Skinner incorporated his local BC apples into a delicious honey & cinnamon baked apple topped with fresh ricotta cheese. To take advantage of the apple season, Brian challenged Canadian food bloggers to showcase a creative APPLE recipe. Brian will select a winner at the end of the month, until then, try out any of our top finalist submissions and let us know what you think!

Dreena at Plant Powered Kitchen has taken a new spin on an old favourite. She’s created a healthy alternative to the sugar como that is a caramel apple, with her SUGAR FREE VEGAN CARAMEL APPLE.

How about the perfect APPLE SPICED MUFFIN? Hillary from Hillary with 2 L’s (please) has come up with a tasty apple treat to give you some energy to go along with your Autumn hobbies (knitting and Pinterest of course!).

Nancy has been baking through the Vancouver rain and has come up with a delicious gourmet APPLE CINNAMON BUTTERMILK CAKE on her blog Nomss that’s sure to impress.

Vancouver Sun’s very own food critic and writer Mia Stainsby of Word of Mouth couldn’t resist the challenge! She’s raised the bar with an APPLE GALETTE WITH CARAMEL SAUCE. Wow.

And last, but not least… to round out our selection of sweet, Jenny at Fables and Focaccia used her local apples to shine in her savoury SEASONAL APPLE STUFFING. Best with turkey or chicken, her dish gained approval with members of her test kitchen (a.k.a. the family)!

Good luck to all the finalists! Chef Brian will be making his selection by November 30th.

Let us know what finalist you think did the best job of creating a delicious APPLE recipe, or tell us how you used seasonal apples this fall!
