Like most people, I love a good garlic bread – one that is easy to make, and focused on the simplicity of the ingredients, seasonal garlic and high quality bread. There’s a bakery in my neighborhood that makes the best sourdough baguette I’ve ever tried. Naturally, their loaf was my first choice for homemade garlic bread.
This recipe is easy enough to make moments before guests arrive, or as a weeknight treat with a giant bowl of pasta. If you’re worried about turning on the oven in the middle of summer, I’m convinced this would work equally well on a barbecue. If you give it a try, report back and let me know how it went.
Easy Garlic Bread
(recipe is easily doubled for a whole baguette)
½ baguette, sliced lengthwise
¼ cup unsalted butter
2 tbsp olive oil
¼ cup flat leaf parsley, chopped
1-2 cloves fresh Ontario garlic, peeled and minced
dash of salt
1. Preheat oven to 450 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
2. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the butter and olive oil. Once the butter begins to melt, add the parsley and garlic. Stir to combine, allowing the butter to melt completely.
3. Place the baguette halves on the baking sheet, and gently brush on the garlic mixture. Be sure to scrape out every last bit from the saucepan.
4. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Once removed from the oven, while the bread is still hot, slice into 1” pieces. Serve immediately.
