August CHEF'S BOX Theme: An East Coast Brunch with Chef Jeremy Charles

Chef Jeremy Charles has travelled from the rugged wilderness of the Canadian shield at the Molson Fly Fishing Camp in Godbout, Quebec, where he was head chef to the Molson and Bronfman families, to the slick urban oases of Los Angeles and Chicago, where he staged and served as a private chef. The diversity of Jeremy's experience continues to guide him on his culinary journey toward the redefinition of rustic East Coast cuisine. Enjoy some of his favourite local purveyors as you put together a Maritime brunch!

Figurehead Filter (12oz) roasted by Anchored Coffee (Dartmouth NS). Dean uses a direct trade model for green bean purchases, working to build mutually beneficial and respectful relationships with individual farmers in coffee-producing countries.  

Haskap Maple Syrup (250mL) made by Haskapa (Blockhouse NS). Haskap berries are high in bioactive compounds, vitamin C and other antioxidants.  While they are new to most of us today, they’ve been used in folk medicine for generations.  This is the perfect blend of Nova Scotia's finest Maple syrup and Haskap juice.

Bakeapple Jam (125mL) made by The Dark Tickle Company (St. Lunaire-Griquet NL). Mellow, honey/apricot like in flavour, this berry is arguably the most cherished of all the Newfoundland wildberry varieties.  

Granola (300g) made by The Merchant Tavern (St. John’s NL). Chef Jeremy's own recipe for morning goodness, complete with instructions to make his steel cut oat porridge with The Merchant Tavern's house-made granola and maple syrup.

Elderflower (50mL) made by Third Place Cocktail Co. (St. John’s NL). Inspired from time spent in London, enjoy the wonderful aroma and bright, distinct flavour of elderflower complimented with Jasmine flowers, fresh citrus zest and the best Earl Grey tea's notes of orange, lemon and bergamot. Perfect with champagne, vodka, or soda for a non-alcoholic spritzer.

These are the perfect ingredients for Chef Jeremy's best brunch recipes for pancakes, steel cut oat porridge with The Merchant Tavern granola and maple syrup, and fresh flavoured cocktails.

How does the CHEF'S BOX™ monthly food club work?
  1. Pick a subscription plan, either 1 month (a single box), prepaid 3 or 6 months (or quarterly), or a monthly recurring order (subsequent months are billed on the 22nd day of every month and cancellable on 30 days notice - just log into your account to monitor shipments or cancel).
  2. Order any time during the month and your first CHEF'S BOX™ will be shipped by the 15th day of the month following (ex. order January 22nd and your first box ships by February 15th; order June 2nd and your first box ships by July 15th)
  3. Pay a flat monthly fee for Expedited Parcel shipping (see Shipping Terms for more detail).
  4. For gifts, put the recipient's name and address in the Special Instruction box of the checkout (note: only one shipping address per order).
