October Theme: Create The Cheese Board of Your Dreams

Our latest CHEF’S BOX is curated by Afrim Pristine, Canada's premier cheese expert and owner of the Cheese Boutique, with over 23 years of experience in the art of cheese making. Afrim's newly released cookbook For The Love of Cheese was the inspiration for this box filled with artisan-made ingredients and tips for creating the cheese board of your dreams. Here's what's inside:

How does the CHEF'S BOX™ monthly food club work?
  1. Pick a subscription plan, either 1 month (a single box), prepaid 3 or 6 months (or quarterly), or a monthly recurring order (subsequent months are billed on the 22nd day of every month and cancellable on 30 days notice - just log into your account to monitor shipments or cancel).
  2. Order any time during the month and your first CHEF'S BOX™ will be shipped by the 15th day of the month following (ex. order January 22nd and your first box ships by February 15th; order June 2nd and your first box ships by July 15th)
  3. Pay a flat monthly fee for Expedited Parcel shipping (see Shipping Terms for more detail).
  4. For gifts, put the recipient's name and address in the Special Instruction box of the checkout (note: only one shipping address per order).

Bean-to-bar chocolate-making (also called 'small batch' and 'craft chocolate') is the latest trend in Canada's chocolate industry.  Just a few years ago, there was a single Canadian crafter, making chocolate in small batches,using high-quality cacao beans imported from various growing regions close to the equator.  In the last few years, more and more artisan chocolate makers have popped up in various cities across Canada. Why does an entrepreneur want to make chocolate directly from the bean?  The challenge of creating something entirely unique; a desire to support cacao farmers and their families; a belief in 'healthy eating'. Whatever the reason, we're all the beneficiaries, as these creative Canadian entrepreneurs are now winning medals at the world's most prestigious chocolate competitions.  Share in the journey and taste Canada's best chocolate with our monthly Bean-to-Bar subscription.

Each month, you'll receive 3 bars, each from a different maker, along with tasting notes from our co-curator, Lisabeth Flanagan, Canadian expert in all things chocolate.  Lisabeth writes The Ultimate Chocolate Blog, a wealth of info on chocolate makers from around the world, plus delicious recipes and so much more.  

November's collection includes,

  • Chocolat Noir - MORROPON 70% made by Qantu Cacao et Chocolate (Montreal) - Gold medal winner at the 2017 and 2018 Academy of Chocolate, London
  • 48% Buttermilk Chocolate made by Ultimately Chocolate (Gore Bay ON) - Bronze medal winner at the 2018 Academy of Chocolate; Silver medal winner in the 2018 International Chocolate Awards (Americas)
  • Guatemala 68% Dark Chocolate made by Soul Chocolate (Toronto ON)  with highly coveted cacao sourced from the lush tropical hills of Guatemala and known for its vibrant fruity notes.

How does the Bean-to-Bar monthly subscription work?
  1. Pick a subscription plan, either 1 month (a single box), prepaid 3 or 6 months, or a monthly recurring order (subsequent months are billed on the 22nd day of every month and cancellable on 30 days notice - just log into your account to monitor shipments or cancel).  This subscription is only offered from November to April to avoid hotter periods of the year.
  2. Order any time during the month and your first Bean-to-Bar collection will be shipped by the 10th day of the month following (ex. order November 22nd and your first box ships by December 10th)
  3. Pay a flat monthly fee for Expedited Parcel shipping (varies by province - see Shipping Terms for more detail).
  4. For gifts, put the recipient's name and address in the Special Instruction box of the Shopping Cart (note: only one shipping address per order - if you need multiple gifts, you will need to do a separate order for each recipient).
