If a hot dog still comes to mind when you think of street food, then it’s time to catch up. The street-food scene has exploded in recent years, quickly becoming a bold new reflection of Canada's multicultural cities. Curated by Toronto-based chef Craig Wong, this month’s CHEF'S BOX is a collection of six flavourful Asian-inspired ingredients and recipes to create a feast at home. Here's what's inside:
Thai Red Curry made by Saha Cuisine (250g). A staple of southern Thailand, red curry paste is an ingredient in many Thai dishes. Its namesake colour comes from the Thai red chilies that also lend it a robust flavour. Use with any meat/protein, vegetables, and coconut milk, and serve over jasmine rice.
Make-Your-Own Congee Mix made by Jackpot Chicken & Rice (serve 3 people). Jackpot Chicken & Rice is the latest restaurant from Toronto-based chef Craig Wong. Created exclusively for this CHEF'S BOX, what could be more fun than making your own silky, savoury congee rice porridge at home!
Nuoc Cham made by The Wooden Boat (250ml). Discover a secret family recipe taken from the homes of Vietnam. This condiment is sweet, salty, sour and packed with umami. Use as a marinade, cooking sauce, dip, or finishing sauce.
Coconut Thai White Long Grain Rice Blend made by Rice Shack (serves 4-6). Based in Calgary, Rice Shack blends artisan seasonings with rice to create easy and healthy meals. This blend is the perfect side dish for seafood, chicken or vegetables.
Hot Haitian Peanut Butter made by D&D Mamba (500g). This Montreal-made Haitian peanut butter is a mixture of the highest quality peanuts, spices, and a dash of salt. Savoury and exotic, it will be your new favourite ingredient.
Chili Miso Condiment made by Abokichi (250ml). We’re addicted to this umami-rich chili, miso, and sesame oil based condiment often eaten with rice in Japan. It adds a delicious kick to chicken, sandwiches, even egg dishes—we put it on everything.

How does the CHEF'S BOX™ monthly food club work?
- Pick a subscription plan, either 1 month (a single box), prepaid 3 or 6 months (or quarterly), or a monthly recurring order (subsequent months are billed on the 22nd day of every month and cancellable on 30 days notice - just log into your account to monitor shipments or cancel).
- Order any time during the month and your first CHEF'S BOX™ will be shipped by the 15th day of the month following (ex. order January 22nd and your first box ships by February 15th; order June 2nd and your first box ships by July 15th)
- Pay a flat monthly fee for Expedited Parcel shipping (see Shipping Terms for more detail).
- For gifts, put the recipient's name and address in the Special Instruction box of the checkout (note: only one shipping address per order).
